Definition

eHerkenning is the digital login method companies and other organisations use to identify themselves to government portals, comparable to DigiD for individuals. To access mijn.rvo.nl and submit a WBSO application you need at least level eH3, with a specific authorisation for the WBSO service; a lower level such as eH2 does not grant access. Legal entities such as a bv, nv or foundation are required to use eHerkenning. Sole traders with a one-person business can choose between free DigiD, which works immediately based on your BSN, or eHerkenning eH3, which becomes more common once you take on staff. You apply for eHerkenning through a recognised supplier, via an identity check based on your Chamber of Commerce (KvK) extract. If you want an accountant, adviser or a platform such as Manna to submit a WBSO application on behalf of your company, you arrange that through an additional eHerkenning authorisation for the WBSO service, rather than sharing your own login credentials. Without the right eHerkenning level and authorisation, you cannot handle a WBSO application, realisation report, or any other RVO service via mijn.rvo.nl.
