MIT North Holland Feasibility Project 2026: How to Apply

Manna Team

Are you an SME in the province of North Holland (Noord-Holland) who wants to test whether an innovative idea is technically and economically feasible? Then the MIT Feasibility Project of the North Holland province is worth knowing. It is a regional instrument within the MIT scheme that part-funds a feasibility study. This article covers the conditions, amounts and deadline for 2026.

What is the MIT Feasibility Project?

A feasibility project maps the technical and economic feasibility of a planned innovation before you invest at scale. The project consists mainly of a feasibility study, optionally supplemented with limited industrial research or experimental development.

In North Holland this instrument is administered provincially under the regulation "Uitvoeringsregeling subsidie MKB innovatiestimulering topsectoren haalbaarheidsprojecten Noord-Holland 2026".

Amounts and rates 2026

  • Subsidy rate: 35% of eligible costs
  • Maximum subsidy: €20,000
  • Minimum subsidy: €5,000 (lower amounts are not granted)
  • Subsidy ceiling: €2,570,400 for the entire opening
  • Decision period: 16 weeks after receipt of the application

A worked example: with €60,000 of eligible costs, 35% equals €21,000, but the subsidy is capped at the maximum of €20,000.

Application period 2026

The opening runs from 7 April 2026 to 15 September 2026 (17:00). Applications are handled on a first-come, first-served basis; for applications on the same day, a lottery determines the order. So submit well in advance.

Eligible costs

For 2026 there are three cost categories:

  1. Personnel costs (maximum €60 per hour)
  2. Third-party costs (maximum €60 per hour)
  3. Equipment, materials and supplies

There is also a project composition requirement: at least 60% of the costs must concern the feasibility study, and at most 40% industrial research or experimental development.

Key conditions

  • You are an SME (EU definition) with an establishment in North Holland.
  • The project has not yet started at the time of application.
  • Your company is not in difficulty and has no outstanding recovery order.
  • The aid stays within the de-minimis state aid rules.
  • You use the prescribed model project plan.

Note: this is a regional scheme with fixed dates and amounts that change each year. Always check the current information from the North Holland province and RVO before applying.
